Bleeding gums are one of the most common problems to affect periodontal tissues. What should be done if it occurs?
In addition to caries, poor oral hygiene can cause chronic gum inflammation and consequently periodontal disease, which can lead to tooth loss if left untreated.
When the gums are inflamed, they can bleed at the slightest touch. If this occurs, we should not be frightened and stop brushing the area as the plaque can begin to accumulate, which can make the inflammation worse.
If you have bleeding gums, aside from regular brushing using a suitable technique, it is important to use a soft toothbrush, floss or an interdental toothbrush (for cleaning between the teeth), and an antiseptic mouthwash… and of course to visit a dentist.
